Hey Adam. For starters, fireworks and a church are so disassociative that it immediately makes an imprint on my mind. This piece has been staying with me more than any I've saved lately. It would have to go in my top something (pick a number) all time. I like that the display is close to the steeple, rather than being more to the left, though some would probably say that the fireworks should shift left, leaving less empty sky. I think the left side is balanced out by the empty wagon (?), which is yet another object that is not normal to a church scene. I love it for that reason, and it leaves me guessing as to its purpose for being there. The tree limbs to the left offer the perfect frame. Just the right amount. Color contrasts are awesome. Good variety, simple and strong. They let the fireworks take center stage. Another feature that makes a huge impact is the open door of the church, inviting the viewer in. I think I see a pew, and the interior walls are a pleasant, yet contrasting yellow. Which brings up the questions, "Why is the church open on the fourth of July? Or is it the fourth of July? Well if it isn't the fourth, why would there be fireworks near a church?" All very provocative. The glare from the church porch light is spilling onto the roof, which might be a bit distracting for some, but for me, it emphasizes that this church is intentionally open, for some undisclosed reason. I'm not trying to sugar-coat anything with this piece. I simply find it flawless, pure Americana, and I love it. So emotive. So patriotic. Strong symbolism. Hope I've been of help.

I look most keenly for whatever beauty may be near at hand, and drink as deeply as I can.

Wow, this is lovely! The old-fashioned church and landscape with the fireworks seem to tell a story. The framing is really nice, too.
